Yep, that's me.....

I am joining Jill Savage from Hearts At Home for the 3rd Thursday blog hop today.  The topic is Do You Love Your Personality?

I do love my personality.  I feel I am kind, intuitive, honest, empathetic, sympathetic, funny, sarcastic, open minded, tactful, forgiving, nonjudgemental, spiritual, and trusting.

However, I can also be quick to the tongue when angered, paranoid, reactional, emotional, and bitter.

I realize that the second set of traits is not as positive but are interwoven with the good ones to make me who I am and remind me that I am a work in progress.

Emotional- the double edged sword for me.  I can be happy and carefree or I can worried and sad.  I feel every emotion strongly and personally.  I read too much into other's emotions sometimes or assume that I can fix it or change it.  I am good at identifying when others are bothered by something, but I have to remind myself that not every emotion/situation is centered around me and therefore is out of my control.

Control- I don't try to control everyone in my environment but do focus on how I can improve the situation.  I have to remind myself that we all have free will and choices and others choices sometimes lead to negative consequences, just as mine do.  It is ok to let others (including my husband and children) crash and burn sometimes.  I am not the only one who is shaped by these experiences.  We are all on our own journey and God has a separate plan for each of us.

I am an introvert.  I love people and love to be social, but I also really love to be by myself.  I like to escape into my head.  I like to not feel like I have to worry about what I say, what I feel, or what would make others happy or  more comfortable.  I like to hang with just me sometimes.  That is ok.  It recharges me so I can be a better person and be better for serving others.

It has taken me a long time to accept that I am not the life of the party, the dynamic one of the group, the sparkle in the punch.  I am the reserved one, the quieter one, and the one who tries to avoid the drama at all cost.  God has blessed me with some big personalities in my family (hubby and kids)  and I see my place as the one who is to calm the storm and celebrate in their enthusiasm.  We all have a place, and I like mine.  Do you like yours?

Daybook....

Good Morning, I am linking up with  The Simple Woman's Blog  for the weekly Daybook For today... February 9, 2015 Outside my window .... Chilly (in the 30's for a high) but no snow.  Most of the snow has melted from the warm temps this weekend. I am thinking ... that I had a great, great weekend with my family. I am thankful. .. that my children view each other as important.  We had to plan Lucy's birthday celebration around Katie's work hours because she just started her new job and can't request time off.  Lucy would have never considered celebrating her birthday without her big sis present. I am wearing. .. my sparkly sweater again.  I must need the sparkles to handle a Monday morning. I am creating ... nothing at the moment, but do have some unfinished projects.  My mind has been exhausted lately and I am just chilling and puttering around. I am praying ... for a family decision that could make a huge difference in our live...

It's OK

Time for some grumbling, snarkiness, and maybe a little bad attitude... So who came up with flowered scented dish soap?  Someone who drinks perfume?  This is just so gross. Really. Why must the good foods be fattening?  Why is Coca Cola bad for your weight, health, teeth, etc. but so good for your mood?  I would say that it is just me but the fact it is a billion dollar industry would contradict that, just sayin. Why did God not give me the love of cooking to match my love of eating home cooked foods?   Where do all my socks go? Really, my house is not that big. Is it really necessary to get hot sweats at night?  Wouldn't society be better if the menopausal women at least were well rested?  I think I need a snickers, I am definitely in Diva mode today!!

Your Favorite Christmas Tradition

We have developed many traditions for our family over the years.  We always open one present on Christmas Eve, we have Grinch Punch on Christmas Eve, we lay out cookies and a beer for Santa (this has been since my childhood), sprinkle oatmeal in the yard for the reindeer, have sparkling grape juice and chocolate eclairs on Christmas morning, and we go see a movie as a family on Christmas afternoon at the movie theater.   Leading up to Christmas we have chocolate advent calendars, have fun with R.J. our Elf on the Shelf, go to the surrounding towns that have light displays on a  snowy evening, attend  the Santa breakfast in town, and enjoy the school's Christmas program.   We have many family dinners and get togethers to attend to wish everyone a wonderful holiday and spend quality time with the ones we love.    My favorite tradition?  Probably leaving cookies and beer for Santa.  I don't know how it started but...
