Friday's Fav Five

Today I am joining it with a new link up for me.  It is hosted by Living to Tell the Story.

My Friday Fav Five list goes something like this...

1. My three older girls were still up watching television together when I went to bed last night.  My room is right next to the living room so I could hear their conversations.  Although I wasn't ease dropping, I did start to listen.  They were talking about casual and personal things.  I realized that they are all growing up and their conversations with each other are growing as well.  It was like listening to a group of 3 women talking over coffee.  My heart wanted to burst and I may have teared up or actually cried..... maybe. I am so thankful for this wonderful bond they will have with each other for the rest of their lives.

2.  I am just thankful it is Friday.... we have had snow and strep throat at our house this week.  I am ready to shut the books on this week and look forward to a fresh start next week.  I am so thankful God gives us a new day each morning to move forward.

3.  Our pets.  I saw this funny on Facebook and it reminded me of our pets.  The dog actually looks like one of ours.  We got Fred after he was found cold and wet wandering the streets.  His family was located but they didn't want him.  He is such a blessing to our family and we love him so much.  Our other dog Chloe was given to us when her owner just couldn't take care of the needs of a puppy. She was well taken care of but not a good fit there but has been for us.  She is quite the diva but that is ok with me, we have a lot of diva's in our house :) And then there are the Kitty Girls.  They were supposed to be cats for the farm but you can't get a box of kittens and then move them away to fend for themselves after you have fallen in love.  Three of the five moved out this summer (I guess cats do that) but these two are here to stay.  One even follows the girls to school sometimes and has been known to show back up to visit at p.e. time during the warm weather.  Yep, the neighborhood knows our pets as well as our children...

4.  The Shamrock shake is back at McDonald's.  I have not had one yet, but will soon :)  One of my springtime favorites...

5.  Make up.  I started my Ipsy bag subscription back up this month after taking a few months off.  I realized I love happy mail and I love trying new products.  What I don't like, I pass on to one of my girl's who are more than excited about that.

So there you have it.  Have a wonderful week and be sure to link up and read some of the other links.  I love making new Blogging friends!!

  1. Hello Penny, welcome to FFF.

I had my first shamrock shake this week. It was delish and a rare treat.

HAPPY mail is awesome. I try to send happy mail to my godson once a month. I like receiving it too. How fun that your daughters get to also benefit from your happy mail

I hope your week is warmer and sickness free. ;)

  2. how special for you to overhear/"eavesdrop" on your daughters...i've been known to do the same thing! In fact, it's sometimes hard on our 16 yr old to have her big sis (age 21) so far from home (college). they are very close emotionally and i love when i overhear them chatting. Treasure each moment!! Oh wow...my husband used to love those shamrock shakes. We no longer go to fast food places but maybe he will grab one of those next month :) If he does, I know he won't tell me :) Enjoy the weekend and I hope and pray your family gets over the strep soon!

  3. New makeup IS fun... I always feel a lift when I get a new lipstick.

I've never had a shamrock shake before. Maybe I'll give it a try.

Love it when my daughters bond! Mine are grown now and they tell each other things before they tell me!

  4. HMMM, I don't think we can get those shakes here. I bet it is yummy, though.

We are very blessed by out animals as well. We have 5 cats and 2 dogs. All the cats, except 1, are rescues that have found themselves part of our family. It makes for a very full house, though!

I hope you are all feeling better this week.
