Doug falling through the basement was crazy!! I have been telling him for years that they needed replaced, but who has time to replace  a stair case?  Well, obviously it should have been a priority.  We have our washer and dryer in the basement which means the laundry which was already the size of a mountain, is now the size of Mt.  Everest. But my hubby escaped with only some bad bruising, some deep flesh wounds, but no stitches or broken bones.  Whew, we are thankful it wasn't a kiddo who went through because it was one of the top steps that broke.

Shamrock shakes from McDonalds are one of my favorite Spring treats.  I am not sure I would be as excited if they were all year long.  Some times the novelty of once a year is what makes things seem better.  I have always felt this way about Peeps as well. I was disappointed when they are started making them for other holidays, and have in fact refused to even try them.  Peeps are for Easter, case closed.  I also love Cadbury eggs....yummo!

My baby will be 7 years old!! NO!!!  Stop the clock and make her a newborn :(  The other day she told me she wishes she could be a baby again.  Me too!  She was such a tiny little thing with the biggest eyes.  Oh, she was sweet.  She still is.  I love her sassy little attitude.... most of the time.  Lucy has no problem telling it like it is.  She is funny and honest and so determined. She is the bow that ties our family together.

Daybook....

Good Morning, I am linking up with  The Simple Woman's Blog  for the weekly Daybook For today... February 9, 2015 Outside my window .... Chilly (in the 30's for a high) but no snow.  Most of the snow has melted from the warm temps this weekend. I am thinking ... that I had a great, great weekend with my family. I am thankful. .. that my children view each other as important.  We had to plan Lucy's birthday celebration around Katie's work hours because she just started her new job and can't request time off.  Lucy would have never considered celebrating her birthday without her big sis present. I am wearing. .. my sparkly sweater again.  I must need the sparkles to handle a Monday morning. I am creating ... nothing at the moment, but do have some unfinished projects.  My mind has been exhausted lately and I am just chilling and puttering around. I am praying ... for a family decision that could make a huge difference in our live...

Friday's Fav Five

Today I am joining it with a new link up for me.  It is hosted by  Living to Tell the Story .   My Friday Fav Five list goes something like this... 1. My three older girls were still up watching television together when I went to bed last night.  My room is right next to the living room so I could hear their conversations.  Although I wasn't ease dropping, I did start to listen.  They were talking about casual and personal things.  I realized that they are all growing up and their conversations with each other are growing as well.  It was like listening to a group of 3 women talking over coffee.  My heart wanted to burst and I may have teared up or actually cried..... maybe. I am so thankful for this wonderful bond they will have with each other for the rest of their lives. 2.  I am just thankful it is Friday.... we have had snow and strep throat at our house this week.  I am ready to shut the books on this we...

Your Favorite Christmas Tradition

We have developed many traditions for our family over the years.  We always open one present on Christmas Eve, we have Grinch Punch on Christmas Eve, we lay out cookies and a beer for Santa (this has been since my childhood), sprinkle oatmeal in the yard for the reindeer, have sparkling grape juice and chocolate eclairs on Christmas morning, and we go see a movie as a family on Christmas afternoon at the movie theater.   Leading up to Christmas we have chocolate advent calendars, have fun with R.J. our Elf on the Shelf, go to the surrounding towns that have light displays on a  snowy evening, attend  the Santa breakfast in town, and enjoy the school's Christmas program.   We have many family dinners and get togethers to attend to wish everyone a wonderful holiday and spend quality time with the ones we love.    My favorite tradition?  Probably leaving cookies and beer for Santa.  I don't know how it started but...
