Sharing Some Scripture

Sometimes a verse comes out of no where and hits you right between the eyes.

I have felt for a while that God has been asking me to analyze my use of  social media.  Mostly Facebook.  Why am I so intrigued by it?  I do care about people and their lives.  I like sharing parts of my life with other's as well.  However, how much time should I give to this?  With my phone being broken, I am only checking Facebook a couple times during the day and only for messages and notifications.  It has become another source for me to contact people and for them to contact me.  I am committing to continue on with this for the next few weeks to deprogram myself a little.  And to rest.....  I am wanting to blog some more and I LOVE LOVE LOVE instagram because I enjoy sharing my pictures and seeing other's pictures.  The verse that confirmed my need to do this is.....

1 Thessalonians 4:10 & 11 ~ and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you ; so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.

Anything can become a addiction or a stumbling block for us.  I feel God is showing me that this is an area that needs to be prayed about and adjusted. Obedience is not easy but the fruits we receive when we listen and obey are limitless.

  1. I can so relate! I could literally kick myself sometimes for the amount of times I checked FB that day. I am so convicted by the verse you shared. Thanks for sharing it and kicking me back into checking in with God more than FB. :)

Daybook....

Good Morning, I am linking up with  The Simple Woman's Blog  for the weekly Daybook For today... February 9, 2015 Outside my window .... Chilly (in the 30's for a high) but no snow.  Most of the snow has melted from the warm temps this weekend. I am thinking ... that I had a great, great weekend with my family. I am thankful. .. that my children view each other as important.  We had to plan Lucy's birthday celebration around Katie's work hours because she just started her new job and can't request time off.  Lucy would have never considered celebrating her birthday without her big sis present. I am wearing. .. my sparkly sweater again.  I must need the sparkles to handle a Monday morning. I am creating ... nothing at the moment, but do have some unfinished projects.  My mind has been exhausted lately and I am just chilling and puttering around. I am praying ... for a family decision that could make a huge difference in our live...

Friday's Fav Five

Today I am joining it with a new link up for me.  It is hosted by  Living to Tell the Story .   My Friday Fav Five list goes something like this... 1. My three older girls were still up watching television together when I went to bed last night.  My room is right next to the living room so I could hear their conversations.  Although I wasn't ease dropping, I did start to listen.  They were talking about casual and personal things.  I realized that they are all growing up and their conversations with each other are growing as well.  It was like listening to a group of 3 women talking over coffee.  My heart wanted to burst and I may have teared up or actually cried..... maybe. I am so thankful for this wonderful bond they will have with each other for the rest of their lives. 2.  I am just thankful it is Friday.... we have had snow and strep throat at our house this week.  I am ready to shut the books on this we...

Your Favorite Christmas Tradition

We have developed many traditions for our family over the years.  We always open one present on Christmas Eve, we have Grinch Punch on Christmas Eve, we lay out cookies and a beer for Santa (this has been since my childhood), sprinkle oatmeal in the yard for the reindeer, have sparkling grape juice and chocolate eclairs on Christmas morning, and we go see a movie as a family on Christmas afternoon at the movie theater.   Leading up to Christmas we have chocolate advent calendars, have fun with R.J. our Elf on the Shelf, go to the surrounding towns that have light displays on a  snowy evening, attend  the Santa breakfast in town, and enjoy the school's Christmas program.   We have many family dinners and get togethers to attend to wish everyone a wonderful holiday and spend quality time with the ones we love.    My favorite tradition?  Probably leaving cookies and beer for Santa.  I don't know how it started but...
