Social Sunday on a Tuesday

Did you ever sleepwalk as a child?
I don't think so, but Katie did when she was little and that was just strange.

Did you ever try to run away or sneak out of your house?
No way!   My mom did think I was a boring teenager though and did show me a way to sneak out of my room.  I then asked her why I couldn't just go out the door if she really didn't seem to mind.  We agreed that was a safer way then jumping off of the roof.

Did you have any imaginary friends?
I was the only child at home because my brother was 14 years older than me.  So yes, I think I had an entire boat load of imaginary friends.

Did you ever go toilet papering?
No, my mom would have killed me!!!!  She did have her boundaries for bad behavior.

Did you ever sneak TV shows you weren't allowed to watch?
I had cable in my room and was definitely a room dweller.  I don't think my parents even knew what I watched.

Just for the record.  I was a pretty good kid which is why I probably did not have very many rules.  If I would have pushed the envelope my Drill Sargent father and not to be messed with mother would have stepped in.  Knowing this alone, kept me on the straight and narrow.

Thank you God for amazing parents :)

Daybook....

Good Morning, I am linking up with  The Simple Woman's Blog  for the weekly Daybook For today... February 9, 2015 Outside my window .... Chilly (in the 30's for a high) but no snow.  Most of the snow has melted from the warm temps this weekend. I am thinking ... that I had a great, great weekend with my family. I am thankful. .. that my children view each other as important.  We had to plan Lucy's birthday celebration around Katie's work hours because she just started her new job and can't request time off.  Lucy would have never considered celebrating her birthday without her big sis present. I am wearing. .. my sparkly sweater again.  I must need the sparkles to handle a Monday morning. I am creating ... nothing at the moment, but do have some unfinished projects.  My mind has been exhausted lately and I am just chilling and puttering around. I am praying ... for a family decision that could make a huge difference in our live...

Friday's Fav Five

Today I am joining it with a new link up for me.  It is hosted by  Living to Tell the Story .   My Friday Fav Five list goes something like this... 1. My three older girls were still up watching television together when I went to bed last night.  My room is right next to the living room so I could hear their conversations.  Although I wasn't ease dropping, I did start to listen.  They were talking about casual and personal things.  I realized that they are all growing up and their conversations with each other are growing as well.  It was like listening to a group of 3 women talking over coffee.  My heart wanted to burst and I may have teared up or actually cried..... maybe. I am so thankful for this wonderful bond they will have with each other for the rest of their lives. 2.  I am just thankful it is Friday.... we have had snow and strep throat at our house this week.  I am ready to shut the books on this we...

Your Favorite Christmas Tradition

We have developed many traditions for our family over the years.  We always open one present on Christmas Eve, we have Grinch Punch on Christmas Eve, we lay out cookies and a beer for Santa (this has been since my childhood), sprinkle oatmeal in the yard for the reindeer, have sparkling grape juice and chocolate eclairs on Christmas morning, and we go see a movie as a family on Christmas afternoon at the movie theater.   Leading up to Christmas we have chocolate advent calendars, have fun with R.J. our Elf on the Shelf, go to the surrounding towns that have light displays on a  snowy evening, attend  the Santa breakfast in town, and enjoy the school's Christmas program.   We have many family dinners and get togethers to attend to wish everyone a wonderful holiday and spend quality time with the ones we love.    My favorite tradition?  Probably leaving cookies and beer for Santa.  I don't know how it started but...
