It's Ok....

I haven't done one of these posts in a while and thought it would be fun.  So here goes...it may get a little snarky around here:

It's OK that...

I love Pintrest but often wonder...Why would I want to make that item  homemade when I can buy it at the store?...ex. Graham crackers, toothpaste, shampoo, fabric softener sheets, etc.  Now, I totally get the safety issues with some of these.  But others, the time factor really makes me stop and think, am I saving THAT much money? and how important is my time versus the savings? Really...

I hand deliver almost all of my holiday cards and quite a few after the holiday.  I love to make my Christmas photo cards but hate the addressing, stamps, mailing, etc.  So, I just make them, write Merry Christmas on the envelopes and stick them in my bag.  When I see someone I would like to give one to, I do.  That is just how I roll and everyone who gets one is fine with it. I think....

I have a Fitbit, track my steps every day but have no "goal" to achieve on the daily.  I just like knowing.

I love hot dogs like a four year old.  I think they are amazing.  I prefer Oscar Meyer.  I like them rolled up in crescent rolls (pigs in a blanket), on the grill, boiled, fried, or microwaved.  Now, I know they are not healthy, contain all the left overs of the pig, are loaded with nitrates, etc.  But....such is life.  Side them with some mac and cheese and call it a meal!

Do you have any things to add for your That's OK?

  1. You had me laughing and shaking my head as I read this post. :). Seriously....why in the world would I make items I can buy at the store....and when I'm buying those items I tend to find other things I want. I wouldn't find extra goodies if I were stuck in my kitchen! ;)

Daybook....

Good Morning, I am linking up with  The Simple Woman's Blog  for the weekly Daybook For today... February 9, 2015 Outside my window .... Chilly (in the 30's for a high) but no snow.  Most of the snow has melted from the warm temps this weekend. I am thinking ... that I had a great, great weekend with my family. I am thankful. .. that my children view each other as important.  We had to plan Lucy's birthday celebration around Katie's work hours because she just started her new job and can't request time off.  Lucy would have never considered celebrating her birthday without her big sis present. I am wearing. .. my sparkly sweater again.  I must need the sparkles to handle a Monday morning. I am creating ... nothing at the moment, but do have some unfinished projects.  My mind has been exhausted lately and I am just chilling and puttering around. I am praying ... for a family decision that could make a huge difference in our live...

Friday's Fav Five

Today I am joining it with a new link up for me.  It is hosted by  Living to Tell the Story .   My Friday Fav Five list goes something like this... 1. My three older girls were still up watching television together when I went to bed last night.  My room is right next to the living room so I could hear their conversations.  Although I wasn't ease dropping, I did start to listen.  They were talking about casual and personal things.  I realized that they are all growing up and their conversations with each other are growing as well.  It was like listening to a group of 3 women talking over coffee.  My heart wanted to burst and I may have teared up or actually cried..... maybe. I am so thankful for this wonderful bond they will have with each other for the rest of their lives. 2.  I am just thankful it is Friday.... we have had snow and strep throat at our house this week.  I am ready to shut the books on this we...

Your Favorite Christmas Tradition

We have developed many traditions for our family over the years.  We always open one present on Christmas Eve, we have Grinch Punch on Christmas Eve, we lay out cookies and a beer for Santa (this has been since my childhood), sprinkle oatmeal in the yard for the reindeer, have sparkling grape juice and chocolate eclairs on Christmas morning, and we go see a movie as a family on Christmas afternoon at the movie theater.   Leading up to Christmas we have chocolate advent calendars, have fun with R.J. our Elf on the Shelf, go to the surrounding towns that have light displays on a  snowy evening, attend  the Santa breakfast in town, and enjoy the school's Christmas program.   We have many family dinners and get togethers to attend to wish everyone a wonderful holiday and spend quality time with the ones we love.    My favorite tradition?  Probably leaving cookies and beer for Santa.  I don't know how it started but...
