What is my Identity?

Joining Jill Savage for the Third Thursday Blog Hop. I know I am a day late, but that is life right?  Sick kids and Christmas have my schedule a mess!  Well anyway.... today's topic is What is Your Identity...

I found it much easier to write about my personality than my identity.  Maybe I just don't like being "defined" by things.

I can be identified as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, ex wife, aunt, granddaughter, daughter in law, friend, coworker, sister in Christ, as well as many other "titles".

We are identified by where we are from, who our "people" are, what we do, our race, our culture, and a host of other indicators. But all of these things are just pieces of the person we are as a whole.

How do I identify myself? That depends on what I am doing and who I am interacting with.  I would never use my "Mom" hat with my supervisor or my "Coworker" hat with my family.  However, sometimes the  lines and roles  are blurred.  When I am reading to children ( I am a Literacy Specialist). sometimes my "Mom" voice is used...

My most important identifier, even before wife or mother, is daughter of God.  He has put all the puzzle pieces together to make me who I am.  He chose all of the indicators I  use to define "me".  He knew who my "people" would be, what career I would gravitate to, and all of the people who would cross my path.

Isn't that Awesome?  So often we feel that these things are left to chance but he knows it all, before it ever even happens!!!

I am of Native American decent, I love to share this with people as it is an honor to me.  I am related to the Wright Brothers who invented the first airplane.  The  accomplishments of my ancestors were many and great but not in comparison to my father God's....he created my beautiful children and my loving husband.  He created my family for me and me for them.

God made me an American but I would be as honored to have been a Canadian or a European or an African.  I love that he knows each of us so intimately that we can't help but worship his goodness and magnificence.

One day I will bow at his feet and thank him "in person" for the me he made.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
 ~ Psalm 139:13 NIV

Daybook....

Good Morning, I am linking up with  The Simple Woman's Blog  for the weekly Daybook For today... February 9, 2015 Outside my window .... Chilly (in the 30's for a high) but no snow.  Most of the snow has melted from the warm temps this weekend. I am thinking ... that I had a great, great weekend with my family. I am thankful. .. that my children view each other as important.  We had to plan Lucy's birthday celebration around Katie's work hours because she just started her new job and can't request time off.  Lucy would have never considered celebrating her birthday without her big sis present. I am wearing. .. my sparkly sweater again.  I must need the sparkles to handle a Monday morning. I am creating ... nothing at the moment, but do have some unfinished projects.  My mind has been exhausted lately and I am just chilling and puttering around. I am praying ... for a family decision that could make a huge difference in our live...

Friday's Fav Five

Today I am joining it with a new link up for me.  It is hosted by  Living to Tell the Story .   My Friday Fav Five list goes something like this... 1. My three older girls were still up watching television together when I went to bed last night.  My room is right next to the living room so I could hear their conversations.  Although I wasn't ease dropping, I did start to listen.  They were talking about casual and personal things.  I realized that they are all growing up and their conversations with each other are growing as well.  It was like listening to a group of 3 women talking over coffee.  My heart wanted to burst and I may have teared up or actually cried..... maybe. I am so thankful for this wonderful bond they will have with each other for the rest of their lives. 2.  I am just thankful it is Friday.... we have had snow and strep throat at our house this week.  I am ready to shut the books on this we...

Welcome back again.....

Well it's been a minute....lol I feel like my my yearly post is to say I am going to start blogging again, and then never do.   I hope this is the year that consistency is in my wheel house so to speak.  I have again changed career paths.  Not completely though.  I am now the School Librarian in one of local schools. I LOVE IT!  I am looking at utilizing all my degrees in some form or another this year: Teacher cert in Family and Consumer Sciences, Reading Teacher, Library Information Specialist, Psychology, and maybe even Cosmetology.  In know, I know.... it may sound like how? but really, I use all of them every single day,  and I have some ideas on how to use them to benefit more people than those in my inner circle.  I will share more as it develops.  So in my world nothing says back again like a currently post, so here goes: Currently reading: The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic by Breanne Randall All the hyp...
