Happy Valentines and a Recipe

Happy Valentines Day!

This is one of my favorite holidays.  I love the red, pink, hearts, valentines, everything.

I got each girl a new shirt and pair of valentines socks.  Lucy of course had a valentines party at school and the other girls all had a sweetie this year....oh my!

I made Doug a homemade gift and decorated the door with hearts that stated different things I love about him.  I also sent him a picture as a text with I Love You.

Then to finish off the day, I made homemade Paula Deen Crockpot Potato Soup and have included the recipe in this post...oh yummm and oh so easy!

Ingredients:

1 (30 oz.) bag frozen hash-brown potatoes, I use the square ones

2 (14 oz.) cans chicken broth or the big carton

1 (10.75 oz.) can cream of chicken soup

1/2c chopped onion

1/3 tsp. ground black pepper

1 (8oz) package cream cheese (softened)

Garnish: minced green onion if desired

 Directions:

1. In a slow cooker, combine potatoes, broth, soup, onion, and pepper.

2. Cover, and cook on low for 5 hours.

3. Stir in cream cheese, cook 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until combined.

4. Garnish with green onion.

The bread is not included in the soup but baked up is a wonderful accompaniment.....

Friday's Fav Five

Today I am joining it with a new link up for me.  It is hosted by  Living to Tell the Story .   My Friday Fav Five list goes something like this... 1. My three older girls were still up watching television together when I went to bed last night.  My room is right next to the living room so I could hear their conversations.  Although I wasn't ease dropping, I did start to listen.  They were talking about casual and personal things.  I realized that they are all growing up and their conversations with each other are growing as well.  It was like listening to a group of 3 women talking over coffee.  My heart wanted to burst and I may have teared up or actually cried..... maybe. I am so thankful for this wonderful bond they will have with each other for the rest of their lives. 2.  I am just thankful it is Friday.... we have had snow and strep throat at our house this week.  I am ready to shut the books on this we...

On the Books for January 5, 2015

Today I am joining up with The Simple Woman to give you a peek into my daybook for this week...   Outside my window.... There is a light dusting of snow.  Nothing too intimidating...yet.   I am thinking... That a salad for lunch sounds good today.  I do not usually like salad so this is a little  weird. I am thankful... That I was able to spend quality time with my people the past week and a half.  I am wearing.... Work attire :( no more sweats until whenever I have to leave the house.   I am creating... I just purchased some new yarn over the weekend.  So I am getting ready to start a new scarf and some boot cuffs.   I am going... To Walmart on lunch.  Yep, back to normal this week.  I am wondering.... How many days until the next holiday :)  I am reading.... Just my devotional this week.  I am doing Jesus Calling again this year and maybe the Women of the Bible devotional as ...
