Sunday Social

Sunday Social

Happy Sunday Friends :)

Today I am linking up with the above blogs to do a weekly writing prompt....

So here goes...

1. What is your biggest driving pet peeve?
People honking at red lights.  Seriously, if someone is there for a minute extra...chill.

2.  What is your biggest blogging pet peeve?
I don't think I have one.  If another blog gets on my nerves, I just quit following it.  I would hope that is what someone would do to me as well.  There is plenty of room for all of our opinions and styles.

3.  What is your biggest shopping pet peeve?
Overly helpful sales people.  If I need your help I will ask, if not, let me browse.  Other wise I feel like I should apologize if I don't buy anything.

4.  What is your biggest general pet peeve?
Other people giving me opinions on my life.  I am not above asking advice, but please, wait for me to ask.  If I don't, it is working for me and my family, so no worries :)

Pet Peeves are a touchy topic.  Everyone has their own buttons.  What bothers one person, may or may not bother another.  God created us all as individuals, lets respect that individuality.

Past, Present, and Future

What a Beautiful Friday today has been....

This is what's is going on around here.

Past.... This week has been a little calmer.  I did have my stress test and everything looked good.  The Doctor said I should exercise more though.  Yeah, like I didn't already know that!  The girls have been busy, but not overwhelmingly so.  Thank goodness for some quiet evenings, we needed them.

Present...We are having beautiful weather here.  Not too hot and not too cold.  Just perfect.  Celebration of the Arts Festival  is going on this weekend on campus.  Which means my afternoon break consisted of a walk, and a corn dog, and a strawberry shake up.  Yummo!!

Future... A nice weekend is forcasted weather wise, so let's hope for a lot of outside time!!  Also, a special little guy's one year old birthday party is tomorrow and might I also say he just got a new baby brother this week.  What an amazing momma he has and I can't wait to get my hands on both of them this weekend.  Next week will be busy, but again manageable and I hope for a few more nice evenings to enjoy my deck :)

Addiction and Recovery.....

Well I bet that post title grabbed your attention.  My addiction....soda.  Recovery....well we have yet to say. Progress....one week with no form of Soda.  When was the last time this happened in my life?  Maybe at 5 years old.  Maybe.  I really don't know.

My mom let us drink pop whenever we wanted.  I know it was daily.  She herself was addicted to pop and it was just available and preferred by me and my brother.  I am not sure I have ever even went 3 days.  I have given regular pop up for diet or no caffeine before.  You know, trying to be all healthy and all...he he.  But never, ever not at all.  I am so super proud of myself I can't stand it.

The reason? Reality.  It is not good for you.  At all.  It eats up your stomach (probably other things too).  It increases your risk of about every disease (at least in the quantities I prefer).  But most of all for me...it is an addiction.

Addiction is anything you can't live without.  It does not have to be illegal or on the "bad" list to be an addiction.  I am telling you now, I drank pop like it was my job!!   I would drive out of my way for it.  I was willing to be late getting somewhere for one.  I defended it and I justified it.  It is/was an idol for me.

Am I recovered?  Not yet, but hopefully with time, will power, and God's grace, I will get over this addiction and maybe be able to enjoy a soda again occasionally, but as a treat not an obligation.

My new addiction?  Hopefully good old water.  Oh and my morning coffee :)  One thing at a time....

Past, Present, and Future....Good Friday

Past- This past few weeks has been CRAZY busy between home and work responsibilities.  Three of the gals were in the high school musical.  K was the lead!! I was so proud of all of them and the cast was amazing.  It was one of the best musicals I have seen.  Ok, I know I am slanted in my view :)  K was also recognized this week at a luncheon for Seniors who show an upstanding ability to blend academics and extracurriculars and maintain good grades.  That one makes me so proud I cry whenever I mention it...   Work has been filled with appointments, trainings, and meetings.  The weather has been crazy.  Friday and Saturday last week was so warm, Monday it snowed.  Yesterday was warm again.  I yi yi, I never know how to dress for Spring.  I am loving the warm temps though, even if they are not every day yet.  I lost a new plant due to frost.  I forgot to bring it in.  Poor little plant.  I was glad it didn't have  a name yet.  Yep, I name my plants.  Weirdo.

Present....  Today is Good Friday.  I am off work not because of the holiday but because of the Festival of the Young Child tomorrow that I have to work at.  I rarely work on Good Friday because I take vacation that day.  I am almost offended that it is not observed at my employment anymore.  Sad really.  Jesus gave his life for all of our sins and we as a nation go on with our daily lives without even thinking about that sacrifice.  We do it everyday not just Good Friday.    I am so thankful and humbled by the fact that Jesus took my sin, wore it, and died for it.  I would not have the qualifications for my eternal destination without it.  Heaven would not be in the cards for this sinner without it.  Yes, sinner.  I sin everyday.  I sin differently than others and the same as many.  But sin is sin.  Thank you sweet Jesus for bearing that sin.  Thank you sweet Jesus for the torturous death you endured for me.  Thank you sweet Jesus for  your example on this Earth that a sinless life can be led, but for your sacrifice on the cross because I am too human to lead the same blameless life  as you did.

Future....Work at the Festival tomorrow.  Family dinners and Egg Hunts on Saturday and Sunday. Girls are going to the Bunny Breakfast at the school.  Worshiping our Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, feel free to join us!   And a stress test on Monday.  Please pray for that.  I am super nervous.  I have been having some symptoms and they are ruling out the big things.  They feel it is just stress.  I have started making some changes to lead a healthier life style.  It is letting go and letting God that is the hardest for me to be quite truthful.  So prayers are appreciated.

So that is a little bit of what is going on around here.  Have a Wonderful Good Friday, an Amazing Easter, and a Blessed week dear friends :)

My 4 Favorite Books of My Junior High Years on 4/4

To say S.E. Hinton was like a old friend from Junior High would be an understatement.  These four books were read, reread, and read some more during my 6th, 7th, and 8th grade years. I did love the movies as well, but the books were amazing.  I remember when a classmate tried to fudge on a book report on The Outsiders, our English teacher just looked at my best friend and I and shook her head.  I think we had looks of horror on our faces as if he had committed a crime.  My hope is that my children can find a series like this that touches their heart and soul and becomes a part of who they are.  Stay Gold!!!
